Traffic police officer injured in bus collision; Driver detained by Bishalgarh police

Agartala, 14th July 2025:   A traffic police officer on duty was injured after being struck by a speeding passenger bus near the Bishalgarh Bridge intersection this evening. The vehicle bearing registration number TR01C1332 and en route from Sabroom to Agartala allegedly lost control while overtaking and fled the scene following the impact.

The injured officer identified as Prasenjit Debnath was stationed at the intersection when the incident took place. Acting promptly, Bishalgarh police intercepted and detained the bus along with its driver Subhash Bhaumik.

According to officials from Bishalgarh traffic department, frequent reckless overtaking by passenger buses on the Sabroom-Agartala route has been a growing concern, with today’s incident highlighting the potential dangers posed by such driving behavior.

The driver and vehicle remain in police custody as further investigation continues.
