Agartala, 18th July 2025: Concerns have emerged over the alleged use of substandard materials in an ongoing electrification project at Jolaibari naka check-post area under the Jolaibari Assembly Constituency. Local residents claim that the construction of electricity poles by Power Grid Corporation involves low-grade components, including the use of hill soil instead of river sand for the base concreting work.
The electrification initiative is part of a broader development push spearheaded by State Minister Suklacharan Noatia, who has been working tirelessly to elevate infrastructure across the Jolaibari Assembly segment. Under his leadership, multiple development projects have already been implemented successfully, with ongoing work in several locations.
The electrification project is being executed by Power Grid, and oversight at the local level is reportedly managed by a man named Kapil Riang. However, allegations from the public suggest that some Power Grid workers may be attempting to profit improperly by compromising quality standards—allegedly bringing disrepute to the minister’s development drive.
Residents have raised their concerns with Jolaibari Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tapas Dutta and are demanding the use of river sand to ensure durability and safety. Speaking to media, locals emphasized the need for transparency and adherence to construction norms.
