Agartala, 19th July 2025: In a significant political move, the TIPRA Motha Party, led by its founder and royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, is scheduled to meet the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India on July 23 at 11:00 AM in New Delhi.
Party insiders revealed that the delegation will highlight several critical issues concerning the electoral process in Tripura, with its primary demand being a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state’s electoral roll — akin to the recent revision exercise carried out in Bihar.
The delegation will comprise top leaders from both TIPRA Motha and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), including TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia, Chairman Jagadish Debbarma, Executive Members Animesh Debbarma and Brishaketu Debbarma, MLAs Ranjit Debbarma, Pathan Lal Jamatia, Philip Kumar Reang, and MDC Sadagar Kalai.
TIPRA Motha asserts that a special revision is vital to ensure a free, fair, and accurate voter list, especially in tribal-dominated areas that the party alleges have been affected by discrepancies and the inclusion of illegal migrants. The delegation is expected to submit detailed representations and documentary evidence during the meeting, urging the Election Commission to initiate corrective measures ahead of the next electoral cycle.
