Bamutia student shines: Teacher awards Rs 1 lakh to top achiever in Higher Secondary exam

Agartala, 19th July 2025:   A student from Tebaria village in Bamutia assembly constituency Reshmi Roy has brought immense pride to her community by securing the 8th position in the Tripura Higher Secondary Examination conducted by Tripura Board of Secondary Education this year. A student of Gandhigram Higher Secondary School, Reshmi overcame economic hardship to earn her place among the top ten rank holders in the state.

In a heartwarming gesture, her teacher, Ratan Bhowmik, visited her residence on Saturday and presented her with a financial reward of Rs 1 lakh along with a mobile phone to support her future studies. The occasion was attended by locals and former Bamutia MLA Krishnadhan Das, who lauded Bhowmik’s silent dedication to students’ welfare.

“I’m truly moved by Reshmi’s determination and achievement. She’s an inspiration, and I’m committed to standing by her in her academic journey,” said Bhowmik, acknowledging the perseverance that shaped her success.

Former MLA Das added, “Ratan Bhowmik has always extended help to students quietly. If more people follow his example, it would uplift ordinary students and strengthen the future of our society.”
