CPI-M rally faces attack; Jiten lashes BJP over collapsed law-and-order

Agartala Dec 22: Under the initiative of CPI-M, a procession and bazaar meeting were organized in Baikhora market here on Thursday.

Demands including establishment of rule of law in the state, control of price hike of essential commodities, permanent solution of 10323 issue, increase of regular wage and number of working days, taking an effective role against state-wide murder, terrorism, women related crimes and rape and many more were raised in the program.

However, the program of opposition CPI-M faced attack and was blocked by the ruling party supporters that resulted into a tussle.Later, the situation came under control with the intervention of Shantirbazar subdivision police officer Pannalal Sen and DCM Anupam Chakraborty.

CPI(M) state committee president and former MP Jitendra Chowdhury was present as the keynote speaker in the public meeting. Chowdhury strongly condemned the incident of attack by BJP backed miscreants. He said, “It is a democratic country but under the BJP regime people of lost their democratic rights. There is no rule of law in the state”.

“Despite of proper permission from the police, the rally faced attacks”, he added.Addressing the public meeting, the speakers strongly criticized the various actions of the BJP-led state government.

Besides, the speakers presented their demand certificate in front of the public. Apart from that, MLA Jasbir Tripura, Narayan Kar, Ashutosh Debnath and other leaders of the opposition also remained present at the program.
