Agartala, 27th July 2025:    Kailashahar police achieved a major breakthrough today with the seizure of a vehicle carrying a large cache of foreign liquor at the Chinibagan checkpost. The operation marks a notable success for Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar, who had recently assumed charge at the local police station.

Based on intelligence inputs, police intercepted a suspicious Bolero SUV en route from Dharmanagar to Kamalpur. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS11Y-2117 raised suspicions at the Chinibagan checkpoint during routine checks. A thorough search revealed 55 cartons containing a total of 980 bottles of imported liquor, with an estimated market value of Rs 1.2 lakh.

OC Tapas Malakar stated that plainclothes officers had been strategically deployed around the checkpoint after receiving a tip-off. The SUV’s tinted windows attracted attention, prompting police to conduct the search that led to the discovery of the contraband.

The vehicle is registered to Santosh Dhar, a resident of Dharmanagar. The driver has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered under relevant sections. Police confirmed the accused will be presented in court tomorrow.
