Agartala, 28th July 2025: In a significant blow to drug trafficking, Tripura Police on Monday arrested two women with heroin worth approximately Rs 10 lakh during a special operation in Agartala, West District Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar informed.
Speaking at a press conference, Dr. Kumar said the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs by personnel of East Agartala Police Station in the Bankumari area of the city.
“During the search, police recovered nine plastic containers filled with heroin, collectively weighing 97 grams. The seized drugs are estimated to be valued at Rs 10 lakh in the illegal market,” the SP stated.
The two accused have been identified as Rosna Begum (35) and Kolsom Begum (24), both hailing from Sepahijala district.According to the police, the duo had recently arrived in Agartala from Silchar, Assam. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them.
“They will be produced before the court, and we will seek their police remand for further interrogation to trace the supply network,” Dr. Kumar added.
