Agartala, 28th July 2025:    Severe civic negligence has surfaced in Ward No. 2 of Sripur Gram Panchayat under the Fatikroy assembly constituency as a vital stretch of roadway has remained in ruins for over seven years without any response from local authorities.

Despite repeated written appeals, verbal complaints, and formal submissions by residents, the Panchayat has allegedly taken no concrete steps to repair the dilapidated road. Locals report that the situation becomes perilous during the monsoon season rendering the road virtually impassable even for ambulances or two-wheelers.

Frustrated by prolonged inaction, residents took matters into their own hands today, locking the gates of the Sripur Gram Panchayat office. In a sharp rebuke to the elected representatives, they declared, “If a Panchayat elected by public vote fails to address even the basic needs of its people, then its doors need not remain open.”
