TPJA unveils plans for World Photography Day celebration

Agartala, 28th July 2025 : Tripura Photo Journalists Association (TPJA) in a general meeting held today laid out its agenda to commemorate World Photography Day on August 19 continuing its annual tradition. This year’s event will feature a thematic photo exhibition titled “My Beloved Tripura,” showcasing the region’s culture, landscapes, and social life through the lenses of local photojournalists.

The gathering also marked the beginning of TPJA’s 25th anniversary celebrations, with several initiatives set to roll out in the coming months.

As per the scrutiny report and unanimous consent of its members, the committee resolved to induct new members into the association. Notably, TPJA has taken a decisive step towards promoting gender inclusivity by granting membership to 14 new photojournalists, including 2 women and 12 men.

The newly inducted members of the Tripura Photo Journalists Association include Swarupa Naha, Khasrongti Tripura, Rupak Pinari, Rabindra Kaloi, Ashutosh Debbarma, Subrata Debnath, Dibyendu Dey, Ajay Bhattacharya, Parthaprasad Choudhury, Debashish Bose, Abhijit Majumdar, Sukanta Basu, Kinkar Shil, and Rakesh Saha.

TPJA General Secretary Abhishek Debbarma emphasized the importance of fostering inclusivity and professional camaraderie among photojournalists across Tripura, reaffirming the association’s commitment to nurturing creative expression and visual storytelling.
