Agartala, 30th July 2025: Tensions ran high in Tilla Bazar area of Kailashahar today as students from the government-run Tilla Bazar Islamia Fazil Higher Madrasa staged a road blockade to protest the recent transfer of their Arabic teacher Sirajul Islam.
Over 350 students, angered by the decision made two days back by the Education department took to the streets and obstructed the Kailashahar-Rangauti road. The protest brought traffic to a standstill with vehicles stranded on both sides and daily commuters facing significant disruption.
The students citing long-standing faculty shortages at the madrasa expressed outrage at the removal of Sirajul Islam, who they claimed was one of the few remaining senior educators at the institution. “Until the transfer order is revoked, we will not lift the blockade,” declared several demonstrators at the site. The protest caused widespread commotion in the area, prompting a swift deployment of police personnel.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jayanta Karmakar arrived at the site with a large contingent of police and TSR personnel to maintain order. Authorities confirmed that officials from the Education department were expected to meet with the students and assess the situation.
