Agartala, 30th July 2025: The SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF), an international organization advocating for peace, humanity, and the rights of journalists across South Asia, has appointed Pranab Sarkar as the Convener of its Tripura Chapter under the India division. Sarkar currently serves as the Editor of Headlines Tripura National.
The organization expressed confidence in Sarkar’s ability to uphold its mission of promoting freedom of the press and expression in the region. His appointment reflects a commitment to strengthening journalistic integrity and regional cooperation.
Sarkar’s leadership was recently recognized during an award ceremony held at the Taj Hotel in Guwahati, where Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi conferred the honor. Notably, such recognition is rare among editors from the Northeast’s electronic media landscape.
A veteran journalist, Sarkar also holds the position of President of the Agartala Press Club and leads the Tripura Football Association showcasing his multifaceted contributions to both media and community development.
