Agartala, 1st August 2025 :   A disturbing case has rocked Bishalgarh subdivision as a 16-year-old married minor Shiuli Debnath was found dead by hanging under suspicious circumstances at her in-laws’ residence. While the initial claim suggested suicide, the bereaved family has alleged a deliberate murder staged by her husband and in-laws.

According to hospital sources, tensions flared yesterday when Shiuli’s body was brought to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. The deceased’s family alleged that no medical personnel attended to the body until 2 PM, triggering unrest among relatives and locals.

Shiuli, a resident of Maloynagar in Agartala was married three years back to Raju Debnath (32), son of Gopal Debnath from Gokulnagar Adarsha Colony in Kamalasagar assembly constituency. Family members claim that her marital life was fraught with conflict from the outset. Shiuli reportedly spent 11 months at her parental home due to persistent issues, before being sent back to her husband’s residence after reconciliation talks between the families.

This morning, Shiuli was found hanging. Her in-laws allegedly transported her body to the hospital without informing police. After receiving information, Bishalgarh police arrived at the scene and have since registered a case launching an investigation into the matter.
