Agartala, 5th August 2025:  The Communist Party of India (CPI) Kailashahar subdivision committee staged a protest today submitting a four-point memorandum to the SDM demanding urgent attention to local infrastructure and public safety issues.

The deputation submitted by the CPI Kailashahar Subdivision Committee highlighted four key demands. First, they called for the immediate repair of the Kailashahar–Rangauti road, which has deteriorated due to years of neglect and has become nearly unfit for vehicular movement, resulting in frequent accidents. Second, they urged the establishment of permanent traffic control points near the Unakoti District Hospital and the Chirakuti tri-junction—both areas known for recurring bike and vehicle collisions along the Kailashahar–Dharmanagar route. Third, the committee firmly opposed the installation of electric smart meters in residential areas of the subdivision, citing unresolved consumer concerns. Lastly, they demanded the prompt cleaning of roadside drains stretching from Kailashahar Dakbangla to Tilabazar Higher Secondary School, under the responsibility of the Public Works Department.

The deputation was led by CPI state member Syed Ali Badsha along with subdivision committee Secretary SM Ali, women’s leader Hasna Begum and members Asab Ali and Abul Hossain among others.

Speaking to the media personnel post-deputation, Badsha stated that these demands had previously been submitted to the administration. However, this time the CPI considers it a final appeal. He warned that failure to act swiftly could lead to mass mobilization in Kailashahar, hinting at a larger public agitation.
