Govt making strides in higher education expansion: CM

Agartala, 6th August 2025:   Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that if the current generation cannot be educated with real education, then a beautiful society cannot be built.

He said only through real education can one become wise by gaining knowledge from ignorance, and the first teacher of real education is the mother.

Dr. Saha said that along with textbook education, the mentality of serving and helping others in society must be created among the children of today’s generation.

Today, while speaking at a program to distribute textbooks to students of various schools at Baba Loknath Temple in Agartala, Dr. Saha said this.

At the program, Dr. Saha officially handed over textbooks to ten students.

A total of 95 students of Class XI from 19 schools run by TBSE and CBSE were provided with textbooks by Baba Loknath Sevashram Sanstha.The Chief Minister said that the state government is working to improve the infrastructure and quality of education in every educational institution in the state to promote education.

“The state government’s goal is to promote quality education. The National Education Policy has been launched in the state to promote quality education. Tripura has also made great progress in the expansion of higher education. The state has a Central University, National Law College, MBBS seats have increased by 400, B.Sc. Nursing course seats have increased by 50, and a dental college has been started. More initiatives will be taken to expand higher education,” said Dr Saha.

He urged the students to develop the mindset of taking Tripura’s name to the international level by acquiring the right knowledge along with education.

Among others, the program was addressed by the Principal of Women’s College, Sharbari Nath; Sanjay Pal, President of Baba Loknath Sevashram Sanstha; Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar; Secretary of Baba Loknath Sevashram Sanstha, Amulya Bhattacharya; and Corporator Ratna Dutta.
