Agartala, 6th August 2025: Six students from Tripura achieved international acclaim at the ALOHA International Mental Arithmetic Competition held on 20th July 2025 at PH Grand Hall in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Representing India under the banner of ALOHA Abacus & Mental Arithmetic – Northeast Region, the students emerged victorious among hundreds of participants from across the globe.
Two students- Sinan Debbarma of Holy Cross School and Biju Chakma of Don Bosco School were crowned Grand Champions. Shristika Chowdhury of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir secured the First Runner-Up position followed by Chayanika Debnath of St. Joseph School, Gokulnagar as Second Runner-Up. Sokat Gurung and Nanda Chakma, both from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir and Auxilium Girls School respectively secured Third Runner-Up positions.
“This success is a symbol of the discipline, confidence and perseverance of the youth of Tripura. Our students have achieved 100% success at the international level, making the entire Northeast proud. We are committed to nurturing more such talent and presenting our region’s educational excellence to the world,” said Ranbir Roy, Managing Director of ALOHA Northeast.
The delegation received a warm welcome from Mr. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung the Indian Ambassador to Cambodia on July 21 recognizing the students’ achievements and the cultural spirit they represented.
Tripura’s journey in international mental math competitions has been consistently impressive, with participation in global events in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Russia and China since 2017. ALOHA Northeast remains the only institution from the region to consistently represent India on this global stage.
The organization also expressed gratitude to the media for their continued support in celebrating such milestones.
