Agartala, 7th August 2025:   In a sharp rebuke of the district’s security apparatus, 53-Kailashahar assembly constituency MLA Birajit Sinha today once again raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in Unakoti district.

Speaking to media personnel here this morning, Sinha alleged that the district’s security system has “completely collapsed,” and warned that public panic is mounting due to what he described as the administration’s “irresponsible attitude.”

“A few days ago, I had said that there is no law and order in Unakoti district. While responding to my claim, the District Superintendent of Police told media personnel that law and order is good and the administration is working. But the real picture is exactly the opposite,” Sinha stated.

To highlight his point, the veteran Congress leader cited a spate of thefts that occurred on the night of August 5 across five educational institutions under the Kailashahar subdivision. The affected institutions include Radha Kishore Institution, Ramakrishna Educational Institution, Srirampur Suryamani School, Dhanvilas Higher Secondary School, and Dhanvilas Anganwadi Kendra.

“These thefts have spread panic in the entire district,” Sinha said adding, “Is this law and order? There were thefts at five schools on the same night, and till now the police administration has not been able to catch a single thief. This is nothing but a complete failure of the administration.”

Sinha further announced his intention to escalate the matter to the Director General of the state police, demanding urgent intervention to restore law and order in Unakoti.
