Agartala gears up for Floric Player of the Year awards: 10 athletes, 2 teams to be felicitated on August 17

Agartala, 16th August 2025:   The Agartala Sports Journalists Club is set to host its prestigious Floric Player of the Year Award ceremony on August 17 at 10:30 am at the Agartala Press Club. The event will recognize outstanding athletes across football, cricket, chess, gymnastics, judo, yoga and mountaineering with 10 individual honorees and two school teams slated to receive awards.

Tinku Roy, Youth Affairs and Sports minister will attend as chief guest. The ceremony will also feature appearances by former players from East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, alongside Padma Shri gymnast Dipa Karmakar and well-known figures from the state’s sports and media circles.

At a press conference held on Saturday afternoon at the Agiye Chalo Sangha auditorium here, Club Vice-President Subhash Ghosh announced the recipients of the 2025 Floric Player of the Year Awards. Siampuiya and Shriya Deb were selected for football, while Sridham Pal and Moucheti Debnath were recognized in cricket. Aaradhya Das and Arshiya Das earned honors in chess, and Sriparna Debnath was awarded for her achievements in gymnastics. Tania Das received the award in judo, Devantar Bhadra was honored for yoga and Aritra Roy was named the mountaineering awardee.

Additionally, Tripura’s U-17 and U-19 Yogasan School teams will be honored for their commendable performances at national-level competitions. Two special awards will also be presented, though recipients were not disclosed.

“We’re proud to recognize these athletes who’ve shown exceptional dedication and skill. Their achievements reflect the growing strength of Tripura’s sporting community,” said Ghosh.

In a show of solidarity, the Florrick Hotel in Kolkata has extended special privilege cards to all members of the Agartala Sports Journalists Club. “This gesture acknowledges the club’s vibrant activities and commitment to sports journalism,” said Shuven Raha, President of the Calcutta Sports Journalists Club.

Raha also announced that Suraksha Hospital in Kolkata will offer discounted diagnostic and treatment services to club members. During the press conference, 30 sports journalists and photojournalists received their Floric Hotel privilege cards.

Club General Secretary Santosh Gope confirmed the details in an official press release urging all awardees to arrive at the venue on time.
