Agartala, 17th August 2025:   A woman from Chandannagar village under Kamalpur police station has filed a complaint against her husband Gautam Kahar alleging severe abuse, deception and attempts to coerce her into objectionable activities during their stay in Bangalore.

According to the complaint lodged on August 11, the woman stated that Gautam Kahar, whom she married last year at Kamaleshwari Kalbari in Kamalpur took her to Bangalore under the pretext of starting a new life. However, she claims he pressured her to engage in prostitution and refused to provide financial support when she resisted.

“He wanted me to do things I couldn’t accept. When I refused, he stopped supporting me and left me to work in other people’s homes just to survive,” the woman told police.

The woman further alleged that Gautam had a history of luring women and extorting money from them. After abandoning her in Bangalore, Gautam reportedly fled to Kamalpur. Upon finding his whereabouts, the woman returned to Kamalpur and filed a case of cheating and exploitation.

On August 13, she visited Gautam’s residence, where she claims to have witnessed and recorded “objectionable scenes.” She alleges that upon finding her presence, Gautam’s mother Mira Kahar, his brother-in-law and younger brother-in-law assaulted her and destroyed her mobile phone.

“They beat me mercilessly and broke my phone to erase the evidence,” she said.

The woman also shared details of her earlier marriage, during which she faced domestic abuse and was forced to leave for Tamil Nadu in search of work. During that time, Gautam allegedly began harassing her over the phone and persistently proposed marriage, despite knowing she was already married. After her first husband passed away, Gautam moved to Kamalpur and continued his pursuit, eventually marrying her despite his mother’s objections.

The woman claims Gautam worked as a security guard in a private company and had taken leave before disappearing. “I called his friend and found out he was on leave. His phone was switched off. I had no choice but to fly to Agartala and come to Kamalpur to find him,” she said.

Police have confirmed receiving the complaint and stated that an investigation is underway. Authorities are also looking into the alleged assault by Gautam’s family members and the circumstances surrounding the recorded video.
