Agartala, 30th August 2025: Members of the regional political group Amra Bangali staged a protest march this afternoon, alleging systematic discrimination against Bengalis across several Indian states. The rally began at the party’s state office and culminated in a public gathering at Orient Chowmuhani in the capital.
State Secretary Gouranga Rudra Pal and youth leader Biplab Das addressed the crowd, condemning what they described as a growing conspiracy to label Bengalis as “foreigners” and “illegal immigrants.” Rudrapal claimed that workers from Tripura and West Bengal are being harassed in other states, with some forcibly pushed back across borders under police pressure.
He further alleged attempts to delegitimize the Bengali language, stating that certain groups are denying its status as a language in order to undermine Bengali identity. “This is the gravest insult to our community since independence,” Rudra Pal said, warning that if the government fails to act, Amra Bangali will launch a larger movement to defend the rights and existence of Bengalis—potentially calling it a “second freedom struggle.”
