Agartala, 31st August 2025 : Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today accused the CPIM of misleading people with a “negative mentality” and strongly condemned RJD and Congress leaders for making derogatory remarks against the late mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking after listening to the 125th episode of Mann Ki Baat at Asarambari in Khowai District, Dr. Saha said:
“Some leaders of RJD and Congress, including Rahul Gandhi, have crossed all limits by insulting the late mother of our Prime Minister. This is not just an insult to PM Modi, but a direct attack on India’s culture. We strongly condemn such behaviour.”
Highlighting the state government’s focus on Janajati welfare, Dr. Saha said:
“In the 2024-25 financial year, an additional ₹170 crore was allocated to TTAADC, and for 2025-26, ₹860 crore has already been sanctioned. Our government is committed to the overall development of Janajati people and Janajati areas.”
The Chief Minister recalled the attack on a Mann Ki Baat program in the same area earlier.
“That incident was a dark chapter for democracy. Mann Ki Baat is not a political matter — it is a bridge between the Prime Minister and the people. Those who tried to stop it belong to the same culture of violence we saw during CPIM and Congress rule. But people want to listen to PM Modi, and BJP workers will not be intimidated,” he said.
Dr. Saha stressed that unity among communities was essential for development.
“Jati-Janajati are brothers. We are working to build ‘Ek Tripura, Shreshtha Tripura’. Without unity, development is not possible,” he added. Pointing to the state government’s initiatives, the Chief Minister said law and order had improved, police were given a free hand, and health and education infrastructure was being strengthened.“We have honoured the legacy of Maharaja Bir Bikram and are ensuring quality education for Janajati children,” he said.
Taking a swipe at former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Dr. Saha said:
“He once claimed no one listens to Mann Ki Baat. I invite him to join and see for himself how eagerly people wait for this program. They don’t want to see development; they only want to confuse people with negativity. But in the future, such politics will find no place.”
