Maha state police sports tournament starts

The Maharashtra state police sports tournament will start on Saturday at the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) ground Wanwadi.

Pune police commissioner Ritesh Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Administration) Anup Kumar Singh and Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep informed that as many as 2 thousand 833 police officers and employees from 13 teams of the state are participating in 18 different sports.

Upper Commissioner Ramnath Pokale, IPS Jalinder Supekar, IPS Rajendra Dahale and State Reserve Police Force Deputy Inspector General of Police Deepak Sakore were present at press conference.

Pune City Police and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police will have a single team. A total of 13 teams will participate in the tournament, CP added.

The tournament has been organized at the ground of State Reserve Police Force at Wanwadi. Pune Police Commissionerate has got the honor of organizing the 33rd State Police Sports Tournament.

This competition has been organized under the guidance of Director General of Police Rajnish Seth.

The 18 sports including field games, football, wrestling, boxing, swimming, weightlifting, headbuilding are included in this competition. The competition will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on January 11 and the conclusion ceremony will be done by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on February 13, he added. The Players who have excelled in different sports at national and international level will also participate in this tournament. It includes Deputy Superintendent Vijay Chaudhary and others.

The tournament is being held for the first time since January 2019. The competition was not organized during the Corona period, therefore, for the first time after the 2019, the state level competition is being held in Pune.

We are happy about the preparation of the competition, said additional Director General of Police (Administration) Anup Kumar Singh.
