The Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS) commemorated centenary year with a grand inaugural session graced by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. On the occasion, the Chief Minister launched the Tele Mental Health Video Conferencing Service and Digital Academy, while also releasing a commemorative postal stamp, a souvenir, and four books dedicated to the institute’s 100 years of service.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Soren announced that RINPAS will soon witness significant reforms in its infrastructure and academic facilities. He said that the government would conduct a comprehensive review to address existing shortcomings and ensure that patients receive modern and advanced treatment. Extending his best wishes, he congratulated everyone associated with RINPAS for completing a century marked by service, dedication, and trust.
The Chief Minister highlighted the growing importance of institutions like RINPAS. CM stated, “Mental health challenges such as depression are on the rise, while no individual willingly seeks psychiatric care, circumstances often compel them to do so. It is, therefore, crucial that patients admitted to such institutions recover fully and receive the best possible care. “
Soren stressed the need for greater use of advanced technologies in mental health treatment. He assured that the government would make available all necessary digital healthcare technologies to support RINPAS in delivering better care.
The Chief Minister pointed out that many families abandon patients at RINPAS and never return, while some confine them at home, isolating them from society. He described this as a serious issue affecting both patients and communities, calling for strong efforts to ensure that mental health services reach patients in a simple and dignified manner.
Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, said, “Completing 100 years is a remarkable milestone for RINPAS. The institution is serving society selflessly through free and digital health services. Our responsibility is also to guide the youth, who in search of quick success often lose direction, and bring them back on the right path.”
Health Minister, Irfan Ansari, said, “RINPAS has not only provided treatment but also spread awareness in society and prepared new doctors and experts. With government support, we will make the institution stronger and ensure better facilities for the growing number of patients, especially children.”
