Agartala, 5th September 2025:  In a bid to curb coercive practices surrounding Durga Puja fundraising, the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Dulal Dutta and Bishramganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ajit Debbarma have issued a stern advisory to local clubs and organizers.

During a meeting held this afternoon at Bishramganj Police Station, clubs were explicitly warned against forcibly collecting donations. The officers laid out several restrictions to promote transparency and minimize public inconvenience. They stated that donations for Durga Puja must not be collected forcibly from individuals, offices, courts, or marketplaces. Door-to-door fundraising should involve no more than two people and must be conducted only between 7 to 9 AM and 3 to 5 PM. Visiting homes for donations after dusk is strictly prohibited. Additionally, collecting funds from vehicles is not allowed, and any solicitation in markets must be free from pressure or intimidation.

Authorities emphasized that any violation or complaint will prompt legal action under applicable laws. The directive comes as part of a broader effort to maintain public order and uphold ethical standards during the festive season.

This move underscores the administration’s commitment to ensuring that cultural celebrations do not compromise civic harmony or individual rights.
