Agartala, 9th September 2025: Irani police station staff has arrested a 32-year-old man on charges of murdering his seven-year-old daughter in Latiapura village under Kailashahar sub-division. The accused identified as Nesar Ali alias Anwar allegedly brought the child to Unakoti District Hospital on the evening of September 07 last with assistance from the Fire Department, claiming she had died by suicide using a towel.
However, medical staff grew suspicious of the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and alerted local authorities. A preliminary investigation revealed multiple inconsistencies in the father’s account. The following day, a postmortem examination confirmed signs of blunt force trauma to the child’s head.
Sources close to the investigation suggest that Ali first struck his daughter with a sharp weapon and later attempted to stage the scene as a suicide by hanging her with a towel.
The victim’s mother Rajna Begum filed a written complaint with Irani Police Station accusing her husband of murder. Based on her statement, police registered a case number 41/2025 and produced the accused before the local court. Investigators have sought a three-day remand for further interrogation.
Local residents allege that Ali had a history of substance abuse and had recently separated from his wife. Local members believe that ongoing domestic strife and his addiction may have contributed to the brutal act.
