Agartala, 10th September 2025:   The Excise Department of West Tripura has issued a show-cause notice to the licensee of Happiest Hour Bar, located at the rooftop of U.D. Bhawan near Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, for allegedly violating licensing norms by serving liquor beyond prescribed hours.

According to officials, the bar, licensed under No. 97 dated April 11, 2025, was found operating after the permitted business hours of 11 AM to 11 PM. CCTV footage reportedly confirmed that the bar continued serving liquor past 11 PM on September 6, 2025.

The notice, signed by Superintendent of Excise (West Tripura) Abhiram Debbarma, states that such actions amount to a violation of Clause 8 of the license. It further warns that the licensee, Sri Goutam Debnath, may face suspension or cancellation of the license under Section 40(1)(c) of the Tripura Excise Act, 1987.

The bar owner has been directed to submit a written explanation within three days of receiving the notice. Failure to respond could invite an ex-parte decision under the prevailing rules, officials said.
