Agartala, 12th September 2025 :   A wave of shock swept through Kailashahar subdivision this morning after locals found the body of an unidentified youth floating in the Manu River. The grim sight was first noticed around 11 am near the rear of Jalai High School where the river flows through the area.

Locals quickly alerted Kailashahar police, but before authorities could arrive, the strong current carried the body downstream. Shortly thereafter, residents of Chandipur reported spotting the body near the Srirampur Bridge. Responding swiftly, teams from Kailashahar Police Station, the Fire department and Civil Defense volunteers launched a search operation.

The body was eventually recovered near Ward No. 2 of Srirampur with the help of a speedboat and assistance from local residents. It was later sent to Unakoti District Hospital for autopsy. As of now, the identity of the deceased remains unknown.

Locals said that the body appeared to be several days old emitting a strong odor and showing signs of decomposition. Police have stated that a suo-motu case will be registered and an investigation is underway to determine whether the death was a result of homicide or suicide.
