Agartala, 18th September 2025: MLA Sushanta Deb today handed over compensation totaling Rs 92,34,130 to 689 traders affected by the devastating floods that struck Bishalgarh in August 2024. The disbursement ceremony, held at Bishalgarh New Market, marked a major step in the government’s commitment to support citizens during times of crisis.
The floods had submerged homes and commercial establishments across the region, leaving many livelihoods in jeopardy. Responding to the widespread damage, the administration pledged to ensure that financial aid reached every affected trader in Bishalgarh and its adjoining areas.
During the event, each beneficiary received an official sanction letter confirming the compensation amount. The program was attended by several dignitaries, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rakesh Chakraborty, DCM Prosenjit Das, Market Secretary Babul Debnath, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Atusi Das, social workers Tapan Das and Amal Debnath, and Councillor Ratan Deb.
Expressing gratitude, the recipients lauded the MLA’s efforts and the government’s proactive stance.
