Agartala, 9th October 2025 : A disturbing incident of domestic violence has emerged from the West Durlavnarayan area of Amalkimura in Sonamura subdivision, highlighting yet another grim facet of social decay.
This afternoon, a heated family dispute escalated into a brutal attack when Nurul Islam allegedly assaulted his wife Khusnehara Begum and daughter-in-law Salma Akhter with a sharp weapon. According to local sources, the attack was sudden and indiscriminate, leaving both women seriously injured.
Neighbors, alarmed by the victims’ cries for help, rushed to the scene and rescued them. With assistance from the fire service, the injured were transported to Melaghar Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, doctors immediately referred them to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
Nurul Islam reportedly fled the scene following the attack and remains absconding. Police from Sonamura station have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the accused.
Locals revealed that the family had been embroiled in longstanding domestic tensions, which tragically culminated in today’s violent episode.
