Agartala, 12th October 2025 :   Shocking allegations have emerged against Shibu Saha, booth president of Ward No. 5, No. 1 booth in Agartala, who has been accused of assaulting a woman and committing sexual harassment.

The accused is also alleged to have threatened the family with death. The incident reportedly took place at Vivekananda Abasan during Durga Puja festivities. According to local residents, the conflict began when Saha allegedly attempted to extort puja donations from a financially weak laborer’s family. The family, unable to meet his demand of Rs 600, gave Rs 250 instead, which allegedly led to a verbal altercation that escalated into a violent attack.

The victim’s family claimed that Saha first kicked the husband in the groin, then struck the woman in the lower abdomen. The attack reportedly extended to the woman’s parents and children, causing injuries to the elder and younger daughters as well.

The family filed a complaint at the East Agartala Women Police Station on October 3, but the accused has yet to be arrested by the East Agartala Women Police, fueling anger and frustration among locals.Residents have demanded swift action and strict punishment against the accused, criticizing the administration for its perceived inaction in handling the case.
