IGM Hospital Faces Heat After Patient Transferred Following Complaint Over Mismanagement

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 13th October 2025:  A new controversy has engulfed IGM Hospital after allegations emerged that an elderly patient was transferred to GB Hospital as “punishment” for his relative’s protest against poor hospital conditions. The incident has triggered widespread outrage across the medical fraternity.

According to sources, Nikhil Dhar (82), a resident of the Agardoot Club area in Jogendranagar, was admitted to IGM Hospital last Saturday with fever, cold, and cough. His nephew, Ranjan Dhar, who visited him during treatment, noticed that several oxygen cylinders were in deplorable condition. Although his uncle did not require oxygen support, Ranjan raised concerns with the hospital authorities, urging them to improve maintenance for the safety of all patients.

Ranjan alleged that soon after he voiced his concerns, doctors abruptly referred his uncle to GB Hospital without providing any clear medical reason. He claimed that Nikhil Dhar’s condition was stable at the time, and the transfer appeared to be an act of retaliation for speaking out against the hospital’s negligence.

He further pointed out that several other patients in far more serious condition were not transferred, suggesting that the move was targeted and unjust. Condemning the alleged misconduct, Ranjan has called upon the state government to investigate the matter and take immediate steps to address the ongoing mismanagement at IGM Hospital.
