Agartala, 14th October 2025:  In a major breakthrough against narcotics trafficking, Mungiakami Police Station under Teliamura Subdivision has seized around 580 kilograms of cannabis valued at approximately Rs 1 crore and arrested one individual in connection with the case.

Acting on confidential information, police teams carried out two separate operations in the Champlaibari and Uttar Maharani areas of Mungiakami. The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mungiakami Police Station, under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rohan Kisan, IPS. Upon receiving details of the operation, DCM Surajit Debbarma also reached the spot to oversee proceedings.

During the raids, police intercepted two vehicles—one carrying a press sticker and the other bearing telecom company markings, allegedly used by the smugglers to evade suspicion. Upon thorough checking, the vehicles were found loaded with cannabis.

Following legal procedures, both vehicles and the recovered contraband were brought to the Mungiakami Police Station. A case has been registered against the arrested individual under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

“The estimated market value of the seized cannabis is around one crore taka,” a police officer stated, adding that further investigations are underway to trace others involved in the smuggling network.

The successful operation marks a significant achievement for the Mungiakami police in their ongoing efforts to combat narcotics trafficking in the region.
