Agartala, 14th October 2025: In a proactive move to reduce road accidents, the South District Traffic department has initiated a special awareness campaign along the national highway in the Jolaibari-Kakulia area. Rather than relying solely on fines and legal action, the department is emphasizing public awareness as a key strategy to promote safer driving practices.
Road accidents continue to occur frequently across the state, often due to violations of basic traffic rules. Common infractions include speeding, riding motorcycles without helmets, driving cars without seatbelts, and operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Officials say these behaviors are major contributors to the rising number of accidents.
Under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Biswajit Debbarma, the traffic department conducted the campaign to educate commuters about the importance of following traffic regulations. During the drive, Debbarma personally engaged with locals, urging them to adopt safer habits on the road.
In addition to awareness efforts, Debbarma highlighted that victims of road accidents are entitled to government-supported medical assistance. He reaffirmed the South District Police Administration’s commitment to working in the public interest and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.
