Agartala girl Advika Banik wins Kanagawa Award for second time at Global Art Exhibition

Agartala, 18th October 2025:  Advika Banik, a 12-year-old student of Holy Cross School, Agartala, has once again brought international recognition to Tripura by winning the prestigious Kanagawa Award at the 23rd Kanagawa Biennial World Children’s Art Exhibition held in 2024. Organized by the Kanagawa Prefectural Government in Japan, the event draws young artistic talent from across the globe.

This marks Advika’s second win at the biennial competition, which saw participation from thousands of children worldwide. She was among 15 Indian recipients of the award this year, underscoring her consistent excellence in visual arts.

Advika, currently in Class VI, hones her artistic skills at Shilpangan Art Centre under the guidance of her drawing teacher, Biswajit Gupta. Her parents, Tanusree and Abhijit Banik, expressed pride in her achievement and credited her dedication and passion for art.

The Kanagawa Biennial is renowned for celebrating creativity and cultural exchange among children, making Advika’s repeat success a testament to her growing stature in the international art community.
