North East to emerge as ‘Eastern Start-up Corridor’: Draft Report Presented by CM

Agartala, 23rd October 2025:  The third meeting of the High Level Task Force convened by Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha to promote investment in the North Eastern States was held today under the chairmanship of Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER).

In this virtual meeting, apart from Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER), Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasad, Union Minister of State for DONER Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland T. R. Zeliang, Minister of Public Health and Engineering of Meghalaya Marquis Marak were present and participated in the discussions.

In this virtual meeting held at the conference hall of the Tripura Institution for Transformation office, Secretary of the General Administration (Good Governance) Department Kiran Gitte, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. PK Chakraborty, Secretary, Planning Department LT Darlong and other senior officials were present.

Dr Saha presented the draft report of the Task Force on Strategic and Policy Recommendations for Investment Promotion in the North Eastern States.

The report lays out a strategic roadmap for the emergence of the North Eastern region as India’s Green Industrial Hub and Eastern Start-up Corridor, focusing on infrastructure connectivity, investment facilitation and integrated policies across the region.

It is to be noted that Tripura Institution for Transformation and IIM Calcutta were jointly tasked with preparing the draft report.  Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) Jyotiraditya Scindia highly appreciated the state government and Chief Minister for their extensive preparation, well-organized approach and foresight in preparing the draft report.

He also appreciated the integrated planning in preparing the draft report.

The draft report has emphasised on extensive consultation with stakeholders, identification of thrust sectors and sustainable and inclusive industrial development.

The draft report presented in the meeting, has included the Unified North East Investment Authority, North East Connectivity and Logistics Authority and North East Industrial Free Trade Authority to facilitate investment in various sectors of the North East, for logistics integration and coordination between the states.

The Union DoNER Minister said that the combined strength of the states of the North East, with the support of the Central Government, will make the region a prime investment destination, which is aligned with the Act East Policy and the vision of Developed India 2047.
