Agartala, 28th October 2025: A district-level awareness programme and free eye check-up camp was held today at Conference Hall No. 1 of the Kadamthala Panchayat Samiti, organized by the North Tripura District Social Welfare and Social Education Department under the supervision of the District Social Education Officer.
The initiative aimed to educate the public about the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, while also promoting services under the National Programme for Control of Blindness & Visual Impairment (NPCB & VI), including free cataract surgeries and other eye care benefits.
Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath attended as chief guest, joined by Saha-Sabhadhipati Bhabatosh Das, District Social Education Officer Abir Hossain, Kadamtala BDO Sanjib Debnath, and Panchayat Samiti Chairman Mihir Ranjan Nath.
Local leaders from various village panchayats under Kadamthala block participated in the event, where speakers emphasized the importance of ensuring senior citizens receive legal protection, social security, and access to government schemes.
Over 100 patients received free eye examinations during the camp, with medicines and spectacles provided as needed.
