Agartala, 29th October 2025:   Amid growing factionalism within Tripura’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and rising tensions with its alliance partner Tipra Motha, the party held a high-level closed-door meeting at its state headquarters in Agartala on Wednesday to review internal challenges and organizational strategy.

The meeting was chaired by BJP North East Coordinator and MP Dr. Sambit Patra, and attended by state in-charge Dr. Rajdeep Roy, state president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, along with ministers, MLAs, and key office bearers. The discussions primarily focused on bridging internal differences, strengthening coordination with Tipra Motha, and preparing for the upcoming TTAADC and Village Committee elections.

According to party insiders, the leadership undertook a detailed assessment of the state unit’s organizational gaps and discussed ways to realign grassroots strategies to bolster the BJP’s position in tribal-dominated regions, where Tipra Motha remains a crucial ally.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, BJP Tripura President Rajib Bhattacharjee said, “Our central leaders, including Dr. Sambit Patra and Dr. Rajdeep Roy, have come to review our organizational work. Today’s discussions with ministers, MLAs, morcha leaders, and office bearers were held in the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Swadeshi’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaigns. We also deliberated on preparations for observing the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on October 31.”

Bhattacharjee emphasized that strengthening the party’s structure and ensuring unity among all factions were top priorities. Referring to the recent civil society strike and ensuing violence, he said, “Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former CM Biplab Kumar Deb, and I have all strongly condemned the incidents. We must stay united and focus on Tripura’s progress and development. Building a ‘Srestha Tripura’ requires joint efforts from both tribal and non-tribal communities.”

He further added that the BJP will continue its dialogue with Tipra Motha to resolve outstanding issues and maintain smooth coordination between the alliance partners.
