Agartala, 29th October 2025: Tripura’s former Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb launched a sharp attack on the Communist leadership, accusing them of displaying a “cheap mentality” over recent political controversies in the state.
Responding to media queries, Deb criticised former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for his remarks allegedly defending content creator Madhavi Biswas, who had used abusive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders. Deb said, “We do not expect unconstitutional statements from someone like Manik Sarkar. If any BJP worker were to use such language against him, I would take legal action. His comments supporting Biswas reflect their degraded mindset.”
Addressing the controversy surrounding BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee’s mispronunciation of an English word, Deb said the issue was being deliberately politicised. He stated that Bhattacharjee was educated in a Bengali-medium institution, and English-medium education gained prominence only after the BJP came to power. He criticised the Left for “mocking” the BJP leader, calling it a reflection of their “low mentality.”
Without naming alliance partners, Deb reiterated that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is committed to the development of the Northeast and indigenous communities. He emphasised that progress can only be achieved through collective efforts and coalition politics.
Taking aim at the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, Deb alleged that law and order in the state has sharply deteriorated. He claimed incidents of violence against women are on the rise, and opposition leaders face physical attacks. He blamed decades of Communist rule for the state’s decline and said the TMC is “pushing West Bengal further into chaos.”
