Agartala, 30th October 2025: Unakoti district has once again witnessed a remarkable example of dedication and medical excellence. In a remote area of Deorachhara, a 24-year-old pregnant woman’s life—and that of her unborn child—was saved through a timely and skillful operation, reaffirming that humanity, expertise, and modern medicine together form the true essence of saving lives.
The woman was admitted to Unakoti District Hospital on October 27, 2025, after suffering from severe complications. Upon examination, doctors discovered that she was Hepatitis-B positive—a condition that posed a serious risk to both mother and baby, as the virus can easily be transmitted from mother to child during childbirth.
Taking charge of the situation was Dr. Sujit Das, an experienced gynecologist known across the state for his medical skill and compassionate care. Dr. Das made a prompt decision to perform a Cesarean Section to ensure the safety of both mother and child.
To minimize infection risks, strict sterilization protocols were followed in the operation theatre. Every instrument and surface was thoroughly sanitized, and Dr. Das personally supervised the entire process to ensure flawless execution.
He also directed that the newborn receive Hepatitis-B vaccine and Immunoglobulin (HBIG) immediately after birth—a crucial step to prevent the transmission of the virus. A team of pediatric specialists was kept on standby to administer the necessary treatment.
On October 28, 2025, the operation was successfully completed under Dr. Das’s leadership, resulting in the birth of a healthy 3.4 kg baby boy. Both mother and child are now in stable condition, the Unakoti District Hospital authorities confirmed in an official statement.
The surgical team included Anesthesiologist Dr. Amit Pal Chowdhury, Nursing Officers Kaberi Saha and Sathi Ghosh, OT Technicians Suranjit Das and Mithun Mall, and GDA Julius Sinha.
Medical professionals have hailed this case as a “timely and life-saving success”, while the patient’s family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of Unakoti District Hospital.
This operation stands not only as a medical achievement but also as a shining example of the growing trust and efficiency in the public healthcare system.
