Agartala, 31st October 2025: Hundreds of job aspirants who cleared the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) recruitment examination held on October 31, 2016, are still awaiting appointment, despite a Supreme Court directive in their favor.
Although the candidates successfully passed all stages of the recruitment process, they were denied job offers following a change in government in 2018. The newly elected administration scrapped the recruitment procedure, prompting the affected candidates to seek legal recourse. The case eventually reached the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of those who had appeared for interviews and directed the state government to appoint them within two months of the verdict.
However, despite the court’s clear order, the appointments remain pending. Today, the aggrieved candidates staged a protest in front of the police headquarters in Agartala, demanding immediate implementation of the Supreme Court’s directive. They warned that failure to act would compel them to launch a broader agitation.
The protestors emphasized that their prolonged wait for justice has not only affected their livelihoods but also undermined the credibility of the recruitment system.
