Agartala, 7th November 2025: A 32-year-old woman from Jagatpalli in Subhash Nagar, Pratapgarh has made a full recovery following a successful cost-free endoscopic surgery performed at the Gastroenterology Department of Agartala Government Medical College and GBP Hospital.

The patient had been suffering for three years from persistent abdominal pain, bloating, acid reflux, and difficulty swallowing, which often led to nausea and nighttime breathing issues. Despite consulting multiple doctors and spending significant amounts on treatment, her condition remained unresolved.

On September 25, 2025, she visited the hospital’s outpatient department, where specialist gastroenterologist Dr. Shubhadip Pal took charge of her case. After reviewing her diagnostic reports on October 13, Dr. Pal identified a 1×1 cm polyp at the gastroesophageal junction — the area connecting the esophagus and stomach. Polyps in this region are abnormal tissue growths that can potentially develop into cancer if left untreated.

Using the newly installed CV-190 endoscopy system at the hospital’s SS Block, Dr. Pal performed a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure under local anesthesia. The surgery required no scalpel or stitches, and the patient was discharged the same day. She has since reported no difficulty eating and is free from previous symptoms such as vomiting and breathlessness.

Dr. Pal noted that similar procedures typically cost Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 lakh at private hospitals. However, under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the patient received the surgery entirely free of charge.

Grateful for the timely intervention and compassionate care, the woman’s family extended heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pal and the entire medical team at GBP Hospital. They credited the hospital’s advanced facilities and government health scheme for her complete recovery and for averting a potentially life-threatening condition.
