Agartala, 9th November 2025 :   The Tripura Traffic Police have intensified their action against vehicles fitted with illegal modified silencers as part of a statewide drive to reduce noise and environmental pollution.

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kanta Jangir said on Sunday that regular inspections are being conducted, and strict action is being taken against offenders. She emphasized that such modifications are not only unlawful but also harmful to public health and the environment.

“We have been carrying out this special drive consistently. With court approval, around 410 modified bike silencers have been destroyed,” SP Jangir stated.

She explained that modified silencers generate excessive noise, disturb public peace, and pose health risks. Vehicle owners caught using them could face bike seizure, a fine of ₹10,000, imprisonment, and even suspension of their driving licence.

“Many riders use these silencers, especially during early mornings and evenings, causing major disturbance in residential areas. We urge young riders to refrain from installing such devices,” she added.

The Tripura Traffic Police reiterated their firm commitment to ensuring road safety and maintaining a peaceful environment, announcing that similar enforcement drives will continue across the state.
