Agartala, 9th November 2025 : In a major anti-narcotics operation, Melaghar Police achieved a remarkable success by seizing 720 kilograms of dry cannabis from a rubber plantation in Taibandal Gamai Chhara.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising personnel from Melaghar Police Station, TSR, and STF conducted a raid in the forest area under the Forest Department’s rubber plantation. During the operation, the team discovered large drums and packets buried underground, which, upon inspection, were found to be filled with dry cannabis.
The seized items were brought to Melaghar Police Station, where they were weighed, confirming a total of 720 kilograms.
Locals have praised the police for their successful operation against the drug trade.
Sepahijala District Superintendent of Police Bijay Debbarma issued a stern warning to those involved in the narcotics trade, saying, “Drugs are destroying our youth and society. Strict action will continue, and similar operations will be intensified in the coming days.”
The operation was also attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police and officers from Sonamura Police Station.
