Agartala, 15th November 2025: A one-day awareness camp and workshop on ARC potato cultivation was held at Jirania Krishak Bandhu Kendra today attended by local officials and agricultural experts.
Jirania Panchayat Samiti Chairman Pritam Debnath said the state government is working continuously for farmers’ welfare, which has led to significant improvement in their financial condition.
Experts from the State Horticulture Research Centre highlighted that ARC potatoes, developed through advanced research, have quickly adapted to Tripura’s climate. The variety grows faster, resists common diseases, and can be harvested within 75–95 days, allowing farmers to cultivate twice a year on the same land.
Dr. Rajib Ghosh noted that ARC potatoes require fewer pesticides, reducing costs while improving soil health. Their uniform size, strong structure, and high starch content make them highly marketable both locally and outside the state.
Officials added that the government and agricultural university are providing training, quality seeds, and modern techniques, enabling even small-scale farmers to benefit. With higher yields, lower expenses, and better market value, ARC potato farming is emerging as a profitable and sustainable option, marking a quiet revolution in Tripura’s agriculture.
