Agartala, 18th November 2025:  In a massive six-hour operation on Tuesday, Tripura police and security forces eradicated approximately 12 lakh cannabis plants valued at around Rs 50 crore. The raid, based on specific intelligence, targeted 120 plots across the remote, forested areas of Sepahijala district.

A joint force of 500 personnel, including district police, multiple battalions of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), and the CRPF, systematically uprooted and destroyed the semi-mature plants. Authorities believe the cultivation was part of a large-scale interstate drug trafficking network.

“This operation cripples a major supply chain and sends a strong message that such illicit activities will not be tolerated,” said Bijoy Debbaram, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Sepahijala.
