Agartala, 18th November 2025: The Khowai district administration today organized a grand “Unity March” to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel under the overall aegis of the District Youth Welfare and Sports Department.
The march commenced from Khowai Kohinoor Complex in the morning after Khowai Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy inaugurated the event by garlanding the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at 7 am and paying floral tributes to the portrait of the Iron Man of India.
DM Rajat Pant, who was the convener of the event, delivered the welcome address, following which the chief guest flagged off the “Walk for Unity.”
The procession proceeded to Sonatala Gram Panchayat and concluded at Chebri Class XII School. En route and at both venues, cultural programmes were presented by Khowai Cultural Cell artists, saplings were planted under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities were carried out.
Zilla Parishad Saha-Sabhadhipati Satyendra Chandra Das, social worker Binay Debbarma, Khowai Municipal Council Chairman Debashish Nath Sharma, Standing Committee Chairman (Sports & Culture) Piyush Kanti Chowdhury, and Assistant Director (Youth Welfare & Sports) Kamalendu Shil (co-convener) were present.
The programme concluded with a speech by Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Singh Roy Dutta highlighting the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
