Agartala, 22nd November 2025:    The condition of the SB School located near 82 Mile Bazaar has become increasingly precarious, with fears of collapsing ceilings and allegations of administrative negligence raising serious concerns about the future of its students.

Local residents allege that the school, under the jurisdiction of the ADC administration, is being run with extreme carelessness, jeopardizing the education and safety of children.

According to official records, the school has 37 enrolled students and five teachers. However, during a recent media inspection, only 17 students were present, and just three teachers were found across three classrooms.

The inspection also revealed irregularities in the government’s mid-day meal program. The kitchen was locked, and the designated staff member was absent. Only after a teacher made a phone call did the worker arrive, hurriedly starting preparations at 9:15 a.m. Locals fear such lapses could severely affect the nutrition of the children.

Adding to the crisis, classroom ceilings have long remained in a dilapidated state, with teachers warning they could collapse at any moment. Despite repeated concerns, no repair work has been initiated. While the government spends millions to improve education standards, the reality here paints a starkly different picture—crumbling infrastructure, poor attendance, and a learning environment on the verge of collapse.

Parents have demanded urgent action to repair the school’s infrastructure, ensure proper mid-day meal services, and guarantee teacher presence. Without these measures, they warn, both the safety and future of their children are at grave risk.

The local administration has yet to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, residents are calling for immediate intervention from the ADC authorities and other concerned departments.
