Agartala, 23rd November 2025: Marking World Diabetes Day, the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura in collaboration with the state Health Department has rolled out a 14-day diabetes screening and awareness campaign across the state. The initiative, which began on November 14, is being conducted daily in both urban and rural areas through health camps aimed at strengthening public health awareness.
As part of the programme, a large-scale diabetes camp was organized today at Haradhan Sangha Park in Agartala. The camp witnessed a significant turnout from early morning, with over a hundred people availing free blood sugar tests and medical consultations. Services were provided jointly by health workers and volunteers from the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura.
The event was attended by Dr. Pradip Bhowmik, founder of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, along with senior officials of the organization and representatives from the Health Department. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhowmik highlighted the rising prevalence of diabetes and stressed the importance of preventive awareness.
“Diabetes is not a matter of one-day awareness. Regular health check-ups, balanced diet, and healthy lifestyle are essential to protect against this silent killer,” Dr. Bhowmik said.
He urged participants to monitor their blood sugar regularly and emphasized adherence to medical advice, proper medication, physical activity, and weight management for those diagnosed with the condition. Alongside diabetes, the camp also disseminated awareness messages on hypertension, liver function, and general health.
