Agartala, 24th November 2025: On Monday morning around 10:25 AM, an Indian youth was injured in a Border Security Force (BSF) firing while an anti-smuggling operation was underway near the India-Bangladesh border in the Brajendranagar area of North Tripura. The incident occurred near BFL No. 138–139 and Gate No. 10, under the jurisdiction of C-Company, 97 Battalion, Brajendranagar BOP.
The injured youth has been identified as Akash Das (27), a resident of Ward No. 2 of Agnipasha Gram Panchayat and the son of the late Gopal Das. According to reports, Akash Das was attempting to smuggle goods into Bangladesh by cutting the border fence when BSF personnel on duty intercepted him. The situation reportedly escalated, and in an attempt to control it, the personnel fired a round, which struck Akash Das in the abdomen.
He was immediately admitted to Dharamnagar District Hospital. Doctors stated that while his condition is currently stable, the bullet may still be inside his abdomen, necessitating advanced treatment. Consequently, he has been referred to GB Hospital in Agartala for further care.
