Agartala, 27th November 2025: The frequency of road accidents across Tripura continues to rise, with yet another serious incident reported this afternoon. Around 4 pm, two youths were critically injured after their scooter lost control and crashed near Teliamura Degree College in the Khasiamangal area under Teliamura police station.
The injured have been identified as Roni Dhar and Rakesh Dhar. Eyewitnesses alleged that both were heavily intoxicated and were returning towards Teliamura town when the scooter, moving at high speed, rammed into a roadside tree. The impact threw both riders onto the road.
Local residents rushed to the spot after hearing the crash and immediately alerted the Teliamura Fire Service. Firefighters quickly arrived and transported the injured to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors there described Roni Dhar’s condition as critical and referred him to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
Authorities note that incidents of drunk driving are becoming increasingly common in the state, contributing to the surge in accidents. Police have launched an investigation into the case.
