Agartala, 29th November 2025: East Agartala Police on Saturday detained two individuals — Nazir Hossain of Sri Lanka Basti and Shyam Kumar Singh of Bihar — during a raid at Yogendranagar railway station following a secret tip-off.
Although no drugs were seized from the duo, police said three other youths managed to flee the spot on seeing the force. According to the OC of East Agartala PS, both arrested individuals have previous cases registered against them and were produced before the court on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Banamalipur Yuva Morcha leaders met the OC, demanding strict action against what they termed “notorious drug peddlers.”
However, an MLA allegedly attempted to exert pressure to shield the two arrested individuals, triggering political tension around the case.
